Orleans Yacht Club (OYC) Racing Programs

Orleans Yacht Club (OYC) offers sailing instructruction for juniors and adults. The Junior Sailing Program (JSP) and Adult Sailing Program (ASP) are primarily instruction though the JSP offers racing Optimists and racing C420s at specific instruction levels.

The racing programs for juniors includes the JSP recreational racing of many classes of boats on Thursday afternoons and the JSP race team which races C420s. The race team races at regattas held at local clubs and when qualifying as a team at regional regattas. The OYC JSP regatta is known as the Outer Cape Invitational Regatta (OCI).

The adult racing program is not age limited. Participant ages have ranged from 18 to over 90. Adults race in club series races most Sunday afternoons in summer. The boat sailed is the Daysailer, a one-design class. These are often known as O'Day Daysailers since O'Day first made them in the very early 1960s.

OYC runs two adult regattas. The OYC Daysailer Regatta is normally held in mid July. The Yankee Duo Regatta is two consecutive one day Sunfish regattas normally held on the third weekend of September, with a discount for sailing on both days.
