The Racing Rules of Sailing are the foundation for running a race or regatta or participating. The Racing Rules used in OYC Racing describes the hierarchy of rules that apply to a sailing event: World Sailing Rules, US Sailing (national) Rules, One-Design Organization Class Rules, and finally any changes to rules specified in an event's Sailing Instructions. The Notice of Race (NOR) and Sailing Instructions are formal documents defined by the Racing Rules.
